VOCABULARY FOR THE EXAM

PRIMERA LECTURA DEL EXAMEN PARCIAL 1
LET´S START TRADING A DIFFERENT KIND OF SHOPPING (Empecemos un tipo diferente de comercio). se refiere a una forma de comercias con los servicios que ofrecen las personas por medio de intercambio local de servicios y productos a través de la web y como el pago, ganancias y compras se realizan por este medio.

You are short of cash= no tienes dinero
useless= inservible
break down= desomponer
can´t afford= no tener dinero
Local Exchange Trade System LETS)= sistema local de intercambio
join LETS= unirse al LETS
can own the sistem= pueden tener el sistema
business=negocio
babysits= niñera
help eldery people to do chores= ayudar a los viejitos al quehacer
services are advertised= los servicios son anunciados
no money is exchanged= no se usa dinero o no hay intercambio de dinero
perform a service= dar un servicio o realizar un trabajo
saves money= ahorrar dinero
keep your cash= guardar dinero
I went to local hairdresser and got a hair cut= ir al estilista para cortarse el cabello
paying nothing= sin pagar
despite the enthusiasm= a pesar del entusiasmo
doesn´t contribute nothing= no pagan nada
what ever people need= cualquier cosa que la gente necesite
learn new skills=aprender cosas nuevas

SEGUNDA LECTURA DEL EXAMEN PARCIAL 1: habla de lo que es un gap year, sus ventajas y desventajas para los estudiantes.
Taking a gap year= un año fuera de la escuela para trabajar, aprender, tener experiencia en áreas de interés para un trabajo a futuro
discover the true calling= descubrir que es lo que les apasiona
perform better= desempeñarse mejor
realize what you love=darse uenta de lo que le guata o ama
swap= cambiar
failed date= cita fallida
adaptation skills= habilidades de adaptación
resume= curriculum vitae

RECYCLING MATERIALS

Nowadays there are a lot of problems that affect our environment for example: Global warming, Acid rain, Green house effect and Pollution.

You can help to take care of the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling wasted materials so do the next activities:
  1. Make teams of five people
  2. Look for the materials you throw away in your house
  3. Choose one of those wasted materials for example: plastic bottles, glass jars, paper, boxes, cloth etc.
  4. Design a product using the wasted material
  5. Make a pamphlet to explain the process
  6. Design a logo to promote your product
  7. Make a video with the process to make your product

ENDANGERED ANIMALS

Nowadays there are some animals that are in danger of extinction,  it is important that you know some information about this problem.

In this project you are going to investigate and give information to your classmates about some of these animals. Moreover you will give ideas to create souvenirs in order people know about the endangered animal you chose.


1. Now choose one animal in danger of extinction:

BULLYING IS A BIG PROBLEM

Nowadays students at schools have a lot of problems, most of them make feel students afraid, upset, embarrased, anxious or ashamed.



 What problems have you faced at school?  Do you know what is bullying? What are the different kinds of bullying? Do you know the causes consequences and ways to prevent it?

WHAT IS BULLYING?


People have a lot of problems in their community, family, school or job andmost of the times they dont know how to deal with 
One of these problems is bullying. Bullying is when one person hurts another person on purpose.  This hurt can be physical or emotional.
In order to know what kind of person are you, read the meaning of the next words and   illustrate them. Hand in your activities to the teacher.
·         Avoid: Do not permit. Keep away from someone or something
·         Bullied: The victim. People who support the bad people
·         Bully: The aggressor. A person who bothers.
·         Bullying: The action of bothering
·         Bystander: A non participant spectator. Witness.
·         Bother: Bad or offensive actions. Cause trouble, unhappiness, or discomfort.
·         Compassion: Understand someone is suffering
·         Conflict: A problem
·         Defend: To protect someone or yourself
·         Exclusion: Being excluded. Do not include
·         Ignore: Give no attention
·         Insult: An offensive word or phrase.
·         Isolation: Be alone
·         Mediator:  A person who acts as a link between the parties. (referee)
·         Support: To help. Understand his or her feelings.
·         Target: The victim of the aggression 
·         Punch: Hit with the fist
